Folder Management
Organize your personal notes with folders. Learn how to create, rename, move, reorder, drag and drop, and delete folders.
Folder Tree Structure
Folders are only used for personal notes — clinical notes are organized under clients. When you switch to the "Personal" context on the notes page, you'll see the folder tree in the left panel.
The tree structure consists of the following sections:
All Personal Notes
Lists all your personal notes regardless of folder.
General Notes
Notes not assigned to any folder are listed here. When you remove a note from a folder, it moves here.
Folder Hierarchy
Your folders are listed in the hierarchy you created. Folders with subfolders show an arrow icon — click to expand or collapse.
Depth Limit
Folders can be nested up to 3 levels deep. You cannot create a subfolder under a third-level folder.
Folder Hover Actions
When you hover over a folder, two buttons appear: the "+" button (create a new note or subfolder) and the "⋮" button (rename, move, delete, and other actions).

Creating Folders
You can create a new folder using two different methods:
1 Method 1: "Add New Folder" Button
Click the "Add New Folder" button at the top of the left panel. In the window that opens:
Enter the folder name (required).
Optionally select a parent folder — if you don't, the folder is created at the root level.
Click "Create".
2 Method 2: Create from Inside a Folder
Click the "+" button on a folder and select "Folder". A text field appears below the folder — type the name and press Enter.
Press Escape to cancel.
Validation Rules
Folder name cannot be empty.
Folder name can be at most 255 characters.
Two folders with the same name cannot exist under the same parent.
Maximum depth (3 levels) cannot be exceeded.
Renaming Folders
To rename a folder, hover over it and click "Rename" from the "⋮" menu.
The folder name becomes an editable text field with the current name pre-selected.
Type the new name and press Enter.
Press Escape to cancel — the old name is restored.
An error message is shown if you use a name that already exists under the same parent folder.
Moving and Reordering
You can move folders to different locations or reorder them at the same level.
Drag and Drop
When you hover over a folder icon, a drag handle appears. Hold this handle to drag the folder to your desired location — you can both reorder and nest under another folder.
The drop target where you can release the folder is highlighted with a blue border.
A folder cannot be moved into its own subfolder. Additionally, moving is prevented if it would exceed the depth limit (3 levels).
Drag and drop is disabled while search is active — this prevents accidental moves.
"Move..." Option
You can also move a folder by clicking "Move..." from the "⋮" menu. A window opens showing the entire folder tree:
Select the target folder or select the root directory to move to the top level.
Click "Move".
The folder being moved and its subfolders are shown as non-selectable.
Move Up / Move Down
Use the "Move Up" and "Move Down" options in the "⋮" menu to move a folder one position up or down among sibling folders at the same level.
Deleting Folders
To delete a folder, click "Delete" from the "⋮" menu. A confirmation window opens.
What Happens After Deletion?
The folder and all its subfolders are permanently deleted.
Notes inside the folder are not deleted — they are moved to the parent folder.
If a root-level folder is deleted, its notes are moved to the "General Notes" section.
Notes in subfolders are also moved up — no notes are lost.
Assigning Notes to Folders
There are several ways to assign notes to folders:
From the Note Editor
Click the folder field in the "Context" tab of the note settings panel to select from the folder tree. Use the clear button next to the field to remove the folder.
From the Top Bar
Click the folder label in the editor top bar to quickly navigate to the Context tab. Use the (×) on the label to remove the folder assignment.
By Creating a New Note
When you create a note using the "New Note" option from a folder's "+" button, the note is automatically assigned to that folder.

Important Notes
Folders are only for personal notes. Clinical notes are organized under clients and cannot be associated with folders.
Folders can be nested up to 3 levels deep. This limit applies during both creation and moving.
When a folder is deleted, notes inside it are not lost — they are moved to the parent folder or the "General Notes" section.
Drag and drop is disabled while search is active. Clear the search first to move folders by dragging.
You cannot create two folders with the same name under the same parent, but the same name can be used in different locations.
