Overview

The breakthrough moment reminder is triggered instantly when you record a significant turning point for a client. It belongs to the Therapeutic Core category and appears in the Important tab on the Home page.

Tip
Breakthrough moments can be created from notes, sessions, or text selections within a note. The system creates a reminder whenever a breakthrough moment is recorded from any of these sources.

Why Does It Matter?

Breakthrough moments in therapy β€” when a client gains an insight, overcomes an emotional barrier, or demonstrates behavioral change β€” are the most valuable turning points in treatment. Recognizing and reinforcing these moments boosts the client’s motivation and strengthens the therapeutic alliance.

However, in a busy practice these moments can easily be overlooked or forgotten by the next session. The breakthrough moment reminder makes a recorded turning point immediately visible, enabling you to share the progress with the client, reflect it in the treatment plan, or use it as a reference point in future sessions.

How It Works

This rule is simple and direct: when you create a breakthrough moment, the system instantly generates a reminder.

1

Breakthrough moment is recorded

You mark a note, session, or text selection within a note as a breakthrough moment.

2

Rule is checked

The system checks whether the breakthrough rule is enabled and whether the client is excluded.

3

Reminder is created

If conditions are met, a reminder card is created in the Important tab for the relevant client.

Tip
If an active or snoozed breakthrough reminder already exists for the same client, no new reminder is created. After you complete the previous reminder, recording a new breakthrough moment will create a new reminder.

Breakthrough Moment Sources

A breakthrough moment can be created from three different sources:

Note

You mark a clinical note as a breakthrough moment. The entire note becomes the breakthrough source.

Session

You mark a session directly as a breakthrough moment. The session itself becomes the source.

Text Selection

You select a specific passage within a note and mark it as a breakthrough moment. The selected text is saved.

Tip
When creating a breakthrough moment, you can optionally link it to a goal and add your personal reflection.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I record multiple breakthroughs for the same client?
If there is already an active or snoozed breakthrough reminder for the client, recording a new breakthrough will not create a second reminder. Complete the existing reminder first, then recording a new breakthrough will create a new reminder.
Does a breakthrough not associated with a client create a reminder?
Yes, a reminder is created but the card shows general information instead of a client name. It is recommended to associate breakthrough moments with a client.
Which tab does this reminder appear in?
It appears in the Important tab. Breakthrough moments represent turning points in the therapeutic process and are considered high priority.
What happens to the reminder if I delete the breakthrough moment?
Deleting a breakthrough moment does not automatically remove the existing reminder. You need to complete or dismiss the reminder separately.
Does this rule have session mode or keyword configuration?
No. The breakthrough moment reminder is purely event-based β€” it triggers when a breakthrough moment is created. The only configurable setting is the reminder text.
Can I disable the breakthrough reminder for a specific client?
Yes. You can use "Pause for this client" from the three-dot menu on the reminder card, or exclude the client from the rules page.
