PayTR Account Setup (Turkey)

Learn how to create a PayTR merchant account step by step so you can start accepting online payments from your clients in Turkey.

What is PayTR and Why Is It Needed?

Turkey does not support Stripe or other international payment gateways for domestic card payments. Turkish regulations require the use of a local payment provider licensed by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK). This means that if you want to accept credit or debit card payments from clients in Turkey, you need a locally licensed solution.

We understand this process requires extra steps compared to simply connecting Stripe, but Turkish regulations require a local payment provider for domestic transactions. The good news is that once your PayTR account is set up and verified, everything works smoothly from that point on.

PayTR is one of Turkey's leading online payment infrastructure providers. It supports all major Turkish bank cards, offers installment options, supports multiple currencies (TRY, USD, EUR, GBP), and provides a secure, PCI-DSS compliant infrastructure. It is a popular choice among therapists and practitioners who serve clients in Turkey.

Why PayTR?

Fast Settlement

PayTR offers next-business-day (T+1) settlement as the fastest option. Your actual settlement period depends on your merchant agreement.

Quick Approval

PayTR typically activates accounts within 2 hours after document review.

No Setup Fee

There are no upfront costs or monthly fees to get started.

Tip
We understand that dealing with payment infrastructure and bureaucracy can feel overwhelming. This guide walks you through the entire process step by step so you can focus on what matters most: your clients.

Prerequisites

Before applying for a PayTR business merchant account, make sure you have the following:

1

Business Registration

At least a sole proprietorship (vergi levhasi / tax certificate). Mindora integration requires API access, which is only available with a business account.

2

Turkish Bank Account

A Turkish bank account with an IBAN. This is where PayTR will transfer your payouts. The account holder name must match your business registration.

No business registration yet?
PayTR's application form does include a "Bireysel Basvuru" (individual application) option for tax-exempt individuals. However, individual accounts have limited functionality and may not provide the API access required for Mindora integration. We recommend registering as a sole proprietorship at your local tax office — it is straightforward and enables full integration.
Tip
If you are just starting your private practice and do not have a business registration yet, you will need to register as a sole proprietorship at your local tax office first. This is a standard requirement for all Turkish payment providers, not just PayTR.

Step-by-Step Account Creation

Follow these steps to create your PayTR merchant account:

1

Visit paytr.com

Go to paytr.com and click on the merchant application (Uye Isyeri Basvurusu) button.

2

Fill the Pre-Application Form

Enter your business details: company name, tax number, contact information, and expected monthly volume.

3

Submit Required Documents

Upload the required documents through the merchant panel (details in the next section).

4

Wait for PayTR Review

PayTR reviews your application and documents. This usually takes about 2 hours during business hours.

5

Bank Approval Process

After PayTR approves your account, the acquiring bank reviews your application. This takes 7-15 business days.

6

Activation

Once the bank approves, your account is fully activated and you can start accepting payments.

Tip
The longest wait is usually the bank approval (7-15 business days). You can start setting up your Mindora integration as soon as PayTR provides your API credentials, even while waiting for full bank approval.

Required Documents

The documents you need depend on your business type:

For Limited / Joint Stock Company

  • Trade registry gazette (Ticaret Sicil Gazetesi)
  • Tax certificate (Vergi Levhasi)
  • Signature circular (Imza Sirküleri)
  • Authorized signatory ID copy
  • Bank account verification document (IBAN)

For Sole Proprietorship (Sahis Sirketi)

  • Tax certificate (Vergi Levhasi)
  • ID card copy (front and back)
  • Signature declaration (Imza Beyannamesi)
  • Bank account verification document (IBAN)
Document Tips
Upload documents in high resolution (PDF or clear photos). Names on your tax certificate, bank account, and ID must match exactly. Any mismatch will delay your approval.

Fees and Commissions

Here is an overview of PayTR fees:

No Setup or Monthly Fee

PayTR does not charge any setup, activation, or monthly subscription fees. There are no hidden costs — you only pay per-transaction commissions.

Transaction Fee

PayTR determines commission rates individually based on your monthly transaction volume, annual turnover, and business model. Typical rates for single-payment (tek cekim) transactions range from 1.99% to 3.40%. Unlike some providers, there is no additional per-transaction flat fee.

Mindora Commission
Mindora does NOT charge any additional commission on your payments. The only fees you pay are the standard PayTR transaction fees. Your payments go directly to your bank account through PayTR.
About Fees
PayTR occasionally offers promotional campaigns (e.g. 0% commission on the first 50,000 TL for single-payment transactions). Check PayTR's current promotions when signing up. Mindora does not add any markup to these fees.

Payout Schedule

Understanding when your money arrives is important. Here is how PayTR payouts work:

Valor Period (Settlement Time)

PayTR assigns a valor (settlement) period to each merchant based on their profile and agreement. The fastest option is T+1 (next business day), but new merchants may initially receive a longer period (7-15 days). The valor period determines how many days after a transaction your money is deposited.

Faster Settlement = Higher Commission

PayTR offers different valor options — shorter settlement periods may come with slightly higher commission rates, while longer periods may have lower rates. You can discuss the best option for your needs during the application process.

It Gets Better Over Time

As your transaction history builds and your account gains trust, you can renegotiate your valor period and commission rates with PayTR. Established merchants with consistent volume often qualify for better terms.

Tip
Plan your finances accordingly for the first month — depending on your assigned valor period, your first payout may take up to 2 weeks after your first transaction. PayTR does not process payouts on weekends or official holidays.

Common Issues

Business Model Mismatch
PayTR may request additional information if your business model is not clearly described. When filling the application, clearly state that you provide therapy/counseling services and that payments are for individual sessions.
Missing or Incorrect Documents
Double-check all documents before submitting. Common mistakes include: expired tax certificates, blurry ID scans, and missing signature declarations. These will delay your application.
Bank Approval Times
Bank approval can take 7-15 business days and there is no way to speed this up. If your application has been pending for more than 15 business days, contact PayTR support to check the status.

After Account Setup

Once your PayTR account is active, you can connect it to Mindora and start accepting online payments from your clients:

Your PayTR merchant panel will show your API credentials (Merchant ID, Key, and Salt).
